Except for walks in the park and cruising on a Saturday night, travel is a means to an end. People typically travel not for the pleasure of the trip but rather to access other things—work, shops, restaurants, friends, and so on. This report adds to a growing body of scholarship that examines how activity participation and transportation are related, focusing on the trade-offs made in our busy days between going places and doing things.
